--HOME CONTENTS CONTACT CLINICS COTTAGES-- Non Profit Org reality hit!
During the first 5 years, --we have seen a side of the non profit world that is somewhat disillusioning.
We want improvement! ASAP!
The hard earned monies that are donated by hard working citizens, go to:
PAID STAFF! When there is so much work to be done on paperwork, and government policy, there is need for more paid staff. PAY ATTENTION! Are there too many restless employees? Are they the friends or 'family' pf the founders, or business associates of a for profit org? Are they really in a position of being --"taken care of'...? Shouldn't all employees work for their salaries?
NEW BUILDINGS ETC., --OFTEN, before helping or improving the 'quality of service' to the clients they represent. Isn't the client supposed to be the main purpose of the organization, and NOT to have the better or most beautiful building? Please pay attention to the improved services, IF there is a new facility. Be sure! Ask questions! Demand financial reports, as well as speaking directly to the clients themselves. Get the 'inside' information. DO NOT BELIEVE what is presented to the public! DO not trust that the clients you are allowed to speak to are the ones that will tell the entire story! The REAL SUCCESS STORIES are in the clients own testimonies! PERIOD!
EXCESSIVE SALARIES for CEO's of the Non Profit org! --Is it 'right' that a CEO receives over $50,000.00 a year? Do you realize that a CEO can make from 2-$300,000.00 a year, OR MORE! WHY? Shouldn't that money go to the purpose of the 'FIRST INTENTION' --of the non profit org.? HOW
MANY SALARIES/BONUS'/GIFTS/ [and other words for it] --are hidden under ADMINISTRATION FEES? LEARN! You have every RIGHT to ASK what those FEES/salaries are! This IS your 'RIGHT TO KNOW' --IF you are to consider donating to a non profit org! This is everyone's HARD earned dollar being 'gifted' to those who shake each other's hands --behind closed doors! Thank GOD --there are SOME NPO's that operate with HEART-INTEGRITY, and HONOR, and they use their donations to help others. THEIR pockets do NOT need to be 'overflowing' for making impressions of the GOOD LIFE! The GREAT LIFE is expressed by the light of God's Love in the eyes of those --DOING GOD's work! RMF '08
IS THIS NON PROFIT FUNDED BY LARGE COMPANIES, or major donor? Hopefully, YES! And, for the RIGHT REASONS! HOWEVER, I have personally heard this comment: "You had better be careful to not question the 'United Way'. It would not be to your benefit!" AGAIN, IN QUOTES! I later realized what this meant. --MY question was about the $500,000.00 ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN! I stated that this was an 'astronomic fee' paid out of the monies contributed! I stated that this money should be passed on to who helps the people, not spent on advertising. I believe that this should be courtesy of the news media, to help those who help others! OR, am I just an 'idealist'. Shouldn't ALL non profits be IDEALIST organizations?
Is it true, that a major supporter or business/person --can influence others as to WHO THEY SHOULD OR 'SHOULD NOT' CONTRIBUTE TO? DO they suggest they WILL NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THAT COMPANY ANYMORE, --If they contribute to whom they do not support? YES, --THIS HAPPENS! Everyone has the right to fund who they wish. It is unfortunate that some individuals do not have the courage to stand up to those with major funding or business angles and/or interests, --isn't it! There is MORE to this story! I actually heard that 'one' particular person who found a program they wanted to fund, --worthy of a generous donation, who was warned that they would be 'disinherited' --IF they funded that organization! Yes, I feel that the object here is 'purely' ARROGANT FAMILY CONTROL! Anyone, under the 'financial thumbs of anyone, I do not care who they are, had better learn that the 'box' they are living in, has all but one side --closed! Isn't it unfortunate that it may take a lifetime for some people to take a stand for their beliefs? Isn't it also unfortunate that it just takes 'a little' for an organization, --to go around that person to see that the truth is realized? Isn't it those who stand up for good principle, --that 'rise higher' in the end? Trust! This is true! Standing firm, on a belief, and a truth is worth any price paid, to not bend to those who simply have financial abundance. I would prefer keeping company with someone with 'real' character, integrity, and absolute dignity, rather than a cash cow, or money monger, or power-stricken agnostic without humanitarian principle! To those who do NOT seek the Truth,
I will pray for you also, for your knowledge and courage to stand up for your 'own' rights!
Our joy is in helping others! WHAT is their joy? Where does it come from? And WHY?
7. Is our non profit organization actually in 'COMPETITION' (for donations) with other 'working' organizations?
a. Do they just have lavish offices, paid staff, and elaborate brochures, and booklets, and parties for their donors?
b. Do they spend most of the 'earned interest' --they say is donated to 'working' non profits? Watch financial records! Closely!
c. WHY DONATE to an organization that is only providing tax-breaks or write-offs for major fund holders? How much of their money is actually 'spent' of what they SAY THEY ACTUALLY DO? What is their success rate, --not in percentages, but numbers?
MY OWN STRUGGLES with FOR PROFIT or NON PROFIT!
A GOOD For-Profit business will still make contributions. PERHAPS the best way to contribute is in the form of a SPONSORSHIP or SCHOLARSHIP for the people that should be served! And you then, must be sure that your sponsored person is not duplicated to many donors! Question! QUESTION! Do the scholar holders have a RECEIPT NUMBER? ARE THEY DATED? IF NOT, --WHY NOT?
What about operations? Will that non profit org. even exist without being funded by contributions? Shouldn't there be more qualified volunteers? YES!!!
Shouldn't a good non profit org be funded (for operations) by the Government, either national or state? They joy of a npo should be in helping others, not struggling to save themselves!
Are non profits monitored more closely than for profits? If so, why can they spend so much on staffing? Yes, I recognize the need for certification and record keeping, but is it so necessary to have so much red-tape?
PERHAPS, it is a good idea, to just listen to your heart and do what your heart tells you, without ALL the work and worry! After all, a good business keeps spending, don't they?
What goes around, comes around! Charity, is in the heart of the Giver!
Let's keep trying to help, but get educated!
What I have seen, and heard will not influence my powers and desires, --to continue giving from my heart, --to help others!
After having 'given it all, I still seek --how to give MORE!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In response to my question --to be profit or non profit,
I received this email --from another disillusioned business owner.
Ask the Owner. God owns it all. He/She
will direct you. Tap into
the Pipeline. (It's called prayer. You can't
easily stumble when
you're on your knees!)
Are you re-doing Shakespeare's "Much Ado
About Nothing"? How
important - really - is the "listing"?
It's YOU ... and you're too
important to be relegated into a box of
regulations!
Most profit making businesses wind up being
non-profit -- because
they just don't make money. ... and are poorly
managed.
If you have a NEED to give back to society, then
you can always
give away some of that huge profit that you make
(and even avoid
taxes that would be wasted in the NPO to
government).
I struggled with the same thing. ... and still do
... regarding the
--XXX--(for privacy). For now, I'm profit. Yes,
grant money is more
available for NPO, but you have to jump through
soooo many
hoops. I'm getting rather skeptical of NPO in my
old age. When the
medical director of the National foundation was on
trial for
embezelling nearly a million dollars -- it came
out that his ANNUAL
SALARY was $486,000.00. Yes. Now you know
why they are non-
profit. Far too much money is skimmed off at the
executive levels. I
understand that's one of the problems with the Red
Cross (just look
at all the free help they get from volunteers!)
The national director of
ARC resigned after 9-11. They wanted to save a
large chunk of
money from the generous donors, but she wanted to
use it for the
people of the disaster. She was over-ruled.
That's my two cents. (sender
And this could be, --the answer to my question!
The higher type of man clings to virtue,
the lower type of man clings to material comfort. The higher type of man
cherishes justice, the
lower type of man cherishes the hope of favors to be received. -- Confucius
(551-479 BC) Chinese Philosopher
But woe to you that are rich, for you have received your consolation. Woe to you that are full now, for you shall hunger. "Woe to you that laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep. Woe to you, when all men speak well of you, for so their fathers did to the false prophets. Luke 6:24-26
PS --I want to personally thank Guidestar.org and possibly others for including the information of salaries.
I hope this also includes perks and/or bonuses. It's about time this information is available for all to see.
NOTE --to Guidestar.org. The fees that you charge to learn the salaries of CEO's is beyond the normal range of finance. May I request that you consider the range of $100-$300.00 --RATHER than the much higher fee. It is the smaller donor that makes the difference.
A Non-Profit Org. is supposed to TAKE CARE of 'the people' --NOT ROB THEM!
Due to financial position of today, one government official will work for $1.00 a year! What's UNDER HIS TABLE?
that is just for those who like playing the game. The real goal is to
